R-I-S-E: Vlog film project

Commissioned by Project ADDER via the Metropolitan Police, in association with the London Borough of Enfield, R-I-S-E was an important film project managed, filmed and edited by Creationz, sharing powerful, first-hand stories of recovery from drug and alcohol dependence.

The project comprised two films, developed for different audiences. The young people’s vlog followed the recovery journeys of Ali and Ben, offering an honest and accessible insight into their experiences and giving hope to young people facing similar challenges. To protect the identities of contributors where required, names, likenesses and voices were changed using cutting-edge AI technology, allowing their stories to be told while preserving their anonymity.

The adult’s film featured Chris Wild, author of Damaged, and Paul Dorrington, who spoke candidly about their battles with substance misuse and their journeys through recovery. Both subsequently became international public speakers, using their lived experience to educate, inspire and support others.

Primarily created as a training resource for the Metropolitan Police, the films also had a wider purpose: to support professionals working within drug and alcohol services and, most importantly, to show those experiencing addiction that recovery — and a very different future — is possible.
